oh dear oh lord, there are only 3 weeks left for this quarter and I am slacking terribly (per usual) and starting to ~*~flip out~*~ about my work. I just don't know where to go with this project- It's a lot of work for only one person to work on. Especially considering I haven't taken half of the required classes for it because my school is borderline retarded.

here's some updatesCollapse )

3d modelling is hard D:

this is just a quick update to show you guys where I'm at in terms of that character model I mentioned in a previous entry.

this is my first attempt at a humanoid 3d model and so it's obviously going to be inaccurate but hopefully with enough trial & error it will look - for lack of a better word - human.

please SHIELD YOUR EYES if you cannot handle looking at something grotesquely deformed and/or badly sculpted.

the current model does have a head and hands, but because the anatomy is generally off on the model mentioned above I am considering redoing it entirely.

here's the 2D turnaround of the character I'm developing (and whose design is rather loose to the point where I'm not sure if I'll stick with it anyway!):

gamers gonna game

I need to design a character for an upcoming game design project for school and i have *no* idea where to begin... Well, actually, I *kind of* do, but I'm not sure if I can do it or if it's even appropriate.

I wanted to design a character that looks like they come from the Avatar universe, but I'm unsure where to go with this and where to begin. The Avatar universe is so rich and diverse, I am at a loss to create just ONE character who could live and breathe in it. All of the 4 nations are very diverse and very captivating... It would be really difficult to tone it down to focus on just one aspect of it.

So, I got to thinking... What else inspires me?

I've recently become increasingly interested in how "steampunk" looks- the combination of grungy rustic technology and 20's-50's fashion captivates me. I was thinking of perhaps creating a character who has uncovered some sort of secret and has to be on the run. I've come across various cool steampunk-themed motorcycles, and I think it would be very cool to somehow incorporate this into the design. The anime Akira also comes to mind with this concept, and I can just imagine a badass bike chase scene or something like that.

So, I'm torn here between these two very-basic ideas. I guess I'll have to come up with something quickly- we need to have the character and the environment modeled and textured in just three weeks. @_@

Writer's Block: Tolerance 101?

If you could create/select a new subject that had to be taught in high school, what would it be, and why?

How to throw boomerangs properly. Or how to cope without bending in a world of benders.

art is for snobby jerks

Apr. 23rd, 2010 | 05:38 pm

isn't it funny how if you take the shortest break from drawing something (say, for example, doggies) and then you shift your attention to something else (say, for example, people) and THEN you try to go back to drawing what you took a break from your style is suddenly so different you can barely see the resemblance between your old art and this new elitist shit??

whats up with that? i blame my anatomy class...

paranoia what

Apr. 19th, 2010 | 07:08 pm

so i've been getting back into anime for some reason, but i blame zaddy regardless of what it is. (you know why it is, and also in b4 you yell at me >:L)

i finished paranoia agent, and holy shit talk about confusing. it was basically a giant mindfuck and the ending was full of 'ummm what' moments. it was pretty interesting though, despite the vague and frankly confusing plot.

in other news, splinter cell: conviction is pretty silly and kick-ass was better than i thought it'd be. nick cage, you make me lol.
